iOS 16.5 and watchOS 9.5 operating systems will be available to users next week. The information was confirmed by Apple during the presentation of the new Apple Watch Pride Edition bracelet this Tuesday (9).
The press release highlights what comes with software updates. These include Celebration wallpapers, a sports tab in the News app, and the use of Siri for screen recordings.
Wallpaper Pride Celebration
One of the minor new features of iOS 16.5 and watchOS 9.5 will be the new Honor Celebration wallpaper. Celebrating Gay Pride month in June, Artwork matches new commemorative Pride Edition band for Apple Watch.
Sports tab in the News app
With the arrival of iOS 16.5, the News app gets a new tab dedicated to sports. Users will be able to follow the information, scores and match schedule of their favorite sports teams and leagues..
Previously, this content was accessible from the Today tab. But according to Apple, the new tab lets you see more in-depth information from the world of sports.
Screen recording with Siri
iOS 16.5 will have a useful feature that lets you use Siri virtual assistant to manage screen recording. According to the info, just say “Hey Siri, start screen recording” to record video of your iPhone screen.
You can also ask the Assistant to stop recording. If the user does not want Siri’s help, the option to start recording the screen via Control Center will still be available in Settings.
Leaner updates
Generally, iOS 16.5 and watchOS 9.5 should offer users little innovation. It looks like Apple is saving the biggest news for iOS 17 and watchOS 10, which will be introduced during WWDC 2023.
Apple developer conference to be held from 5 to 9 June. The meeting should showcase future innovations of the operating systems of the iPhone, Apple Watch and other major technology platforms.
