The American startup Telly from Ilya Pozin, a native of Russia (known from the Pluto TV cable service), has announced branded free 4K TVs.

The device consists of two displays. The main one is a 55-inch panel with 4K support and HDR support. It runs TellyOS, which does not yet have support for streaming services. Included is an adapter for connecting to Android TV.

Sounds good, but why such generosity? TVs will be given away for free because of the second flat 63-inch display, which will always show ads. Widgets can also be linked there, such as weather forecasts, news bulletins, and so on.

The advertisement may appear on the right side of the display as a roller or on the left side as a sponsored news bulletin.

If nothing is observed on the display, then it will also be in the Republic for advertising. How it will look like is not specified.

The soundbar closed between the screen. There is also a camera for making video calls, fitness and games. At the start there will be about 40 small games using cameras.

The first 500,000 free TVs will be sent out this summer. [The Verge]
