Video hosting YouTube has announced that it will add a 30-second non-skippable ad to its Smart TV app. The timing of the release of the update is not specified.
According to the site’s representatives, viewers will not see two 15-second ads, but one half-minute ad. This approach is due to the fact that advertisers prefer a longer video format, according to the company.
Partners will be able to add commercials through the YouTube Select platform.
YouTube CEO Neil Mohan stressed that 70% of YouTube Select ad impressions are on large TVs.
The company also announced the feature of showing ads during video suspension. The banner is supposed to be located at the edges of the freeze frame.
“This is convenient for viewers and will allow them to learn more about your brand,” YouTube noted.
Previously, the site began testing the blocking of all ad-blockers. It is assumed that the platform will not play videos if the corresponding extension is enabled in the browser.
