X5 Group will begin accepting payments at its supermarket chains with electronic certificates, according to a statement on the group’s website.

X5 Group will introduce the payment of goods with electronic certificates

Thanks to the electronic certificate, Russians who are entitled to benefits will be able to pay for goods in group stores.

“Now, when applying for benefits, citizens, instead of a set of ready-made products or a cash payment for food, will receive from the state an electronic certificate linked to the Mir payment system card,” the message reads.

The certificate will allow you to choose from the entire range of Perekrestki and Pyaterochka, and the balance of available funds can be checked at the State Services.

The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug became the first region where electronic certificates will be available. By the end of the year, X5 will expand the capabilities of the new tool. It is planned to provide the opportunity to pay with said certificate at self-service checkouts.

Now the group is negotiating with several Russian regions on the introduction of this system.

Previously, X5 Group announced the closure of the Karusel chain, completing the work of the last supermarket under this brand.
