Gaming with mouse and keyboard is not for everyone. You can choose to play with a controller on your PC. If you have a PlayStation 4, you don’t need to buy a new controller. You can easily connect the PS4 controller to a PC.

But what if you now want to play games on your PC with a controller? Of course you can go to the store to buy a dedicated controller for Windows, but it’s much easier and cheaper to connect your PS4 controller (if you have one, of course) to your Windows PC. Firstly, it saves you a lot of expense and secondly, you can play with the controller you are already used to.

Install DS4

Technically, your PS4 controller should be able to connect to Windows easily, after all, both your PC and controller support bluetooth. Unfortunately, the reality is a bit more complex, and Windows by default doesn’t understand your controller’s commands smoothly. Fortunately, there is software called DS4 that can help you. You can download this free software here. After installation, click Install DS4 Driver to make sure your controller and PC can communicate with each other.

Connect the controller

You can connect your controller in two ways: via USB cable or wirelessly via USB. In the first method, you only need to plug in the cable. If you want to connect via bluetooth, press and hold. PS button and button To share three seconds until the light bar on your controller flashes Then go to bluetooth settings in your Control Panel and connect to the wireless controller. If a code is requested it will be 0000. Your controller and PC are now connected and you can play almost any game that supports the use of gamepad/controller, thanks to DS4 special support for PS4 controller is no longer required.

A PS4 controller also has a 3.5mm jack for your headphones, but unfortunately that won’t work with a Windows PC. Therefore, you will need to plug your headphones directly into your computer or monitor if you want to use them.

Also PS5 or Xbox controller?

If you have a PlayStation 5, in principle it should also be possible to connect your PS5 controller to your computer. This can then be done via a USB-C to USB-A cable; It’s a different cable from the PlayStation 4’s DualSense controller. If your computer supports it, you should also be able to connect the controller to your PC via bluetooth. Note that the controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback will not work on a computer.

If you have an Xbox controller that you want to connect to a PC, it’s totally easy. (Official) Xbox controllers have a feature that allows you to quickly switch between a paired Bluetooth device and an Xbox console or a PC.
