In principle, it would be wise to do system updates immediately. This way you know your PC is always up to date and well protected. However, there are cases where you prefer not to install updates automatically, for example because you want to wait for teething issues. This way you can disable automatic Windows 10 updates.
How can I turn off automatic updates in Windows 10?

Assume your internet connection has a data cap
You can also pretend that your internet connection has a data cap in Windows 10. But beware: This only works if your computer has a Wi-Fi connection. Does not work for Ethernet connection.
go Settings / Network and Internet and open tab Wireless Internet. To choose Advanced options and turn on the switch Set as metered connection on Open. Windows 10 now thinks your internet connection has a data cap and will therefore not download automatic updates. You must select this setting for each Wi-Fi network you connect to.
Delay feature updates
Since version 1903 of Windows 10, Microsoft has tightened the reins of delaying updates. Especially Windows 10 Pro users should go back to Group Policy Editor for this.
No updates for now
Due to the corona crisis, Microsoft has changed its plans regarding the rollout of Windows 10 updates. No new optional updates have been released for the operating system since May 2020, and Microsoft’s focus now appears to be improving the security of Windows 10 and of course Windows 11. Microsoft has phased out the free upgrade to Windows 11 to eligible users. Users can also upgrade themselves manually or purchase Windows 11 separately. By now, all eligible computers should have received the upgrade.
