Anyone looking for a smartwatch in 2023 has a plethora of options – so many that it’s pretty common to get lost among them. From the most basic models for casual users to the most advanced smartwatches like the Samsung Watch.

In the Android line, the Korean brand is known as one of the best options, and although the Galaxy Watch 4 was launched in Brazil in the second half of 2021, it is a very popular model of the brand.

At launch, and since the Watch 5 is already on the market, it’s common for people to doubt whether the Watch 4 is still worth it. And to answer that question, TecMundo has reviewed the Galaxy Watch 4’s specs, features and other key details.

Elegant design brings extra convenience to Watch4. It has a 46.0mm AMOLED touchscreen and 16GB internal memory.

The Galaxy Watch 4 is still available at various retailers and can be found at a more affordable price due to the launch of its successor.

It is offered in two versions: Common and Classic. This latter has an external top so you can control the menus and have a smartwatch that looks more like a classic watch. Both models are available in Bluetooth and LTE versions (with 4G e-SIM chip) and in two sizes. It’s 40 or 44mm for the regular version and 42 or 46mm for the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

Apart from the size, the presence of the crown in the Classic version and the 4G function, all Samsung Watch 4 have the same technical specifications.

Watch 4 specs

As said, all models have the same technical specifications. Starting with Samsung’s processor, which is the Exynos W920. With its 5 nanometer architecture, this is a great processor, so much so that the brand has kept the unit in the Galaxy Watch 5.

The processor is accompanied by 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. These are very interesting numbers for a smartwatch and allow you to run the vast majority of apps available.

The screen has a Super AMOLED panel, so all applications and functions are displayed in high resolution at any time of the day or in the weather – this is a difference of Samsung models compared to other cheap watches. It is also worth noting that its screen is round, unlike the Apple Watch.

Galaxy Watch4 BT Smartwatch has super AMOLED display, 16GB, 40 hours of battery life and various advanced functions to monitor the progress of more than 90 workout types.

Sensors and monitoring

Another great feature of the Galaxy Watch 4 is BioActive: a “three-in-one” sensor with optical heart monitoring, electrical heart monitoring, and electrical impedance. The smartwatch manages to track a variety of health metrics with this set: there’s 95 exercise, sleep monitoring, electrocardiograms, and even bioimpedance monitoring that measures fat, muscle, and fluid percentage.

All models are waterproof up to 5 ATM and have IP68 protection against water and dust. Therefore, you can use them for swimming.

battery and availability

In terms of battery life, the Samsung Watch promises 40 hours of use, outpacing Apple models that typically only last a day.

The watch runs on WearOS (Android) adapted to Samsung’s One UI. This choice is a double-edged sword: on the one hand, the system is very user-friendly and beautiful. On the other hand, it is much better suited to the brand’s own smartphones: it is more difficult to use with Android phones of other brands and impossible to use with an iPhone.

You must have the Samsung Wearable app for the watch to work. Most of the fitness and health tracking functions are based on the Samsung Health app, while payments are linked to Samsung Pay. The top button calls up the voice assistant, but it’s the brand’s own assistant, Bixby.

As a Samsung product, it’s natural for the Galaxy Watch to work best with Samsung’s own devices. Anyway, this is a point of attention that cannot be ignored in an article like this.

Is the Galaxy Watch 4 still worth it?

The technical specifications of the Watch 4 are still quite relevant, and the delivery of the smartwatch is quite satisfactory for the functions of a model in its category. For those who don’t mind having an existing model and want to save on investment, it is worth investing in the model.
