Intel chips prevent making 15-inch MacBook Air

Apple Silicon processors provided the necessary components for a larger screen.

The 15-inch MacBook Air unveiled at WWDC has an M2 processor

One of the great hardware innovations presented during WWDC in June 2023 was undoubtedly the launch of the 15.3-inch MacBook Air with the M2 processor. It is the largest MacBook Air ever with support for Spatial Audioan autonomy 18 hours and two USB-C Thunderbolt ports.

Curiously, some very interesting information came to light and made me think about it. Intel was preventing Apple from designing a MacBook Air with a 15-inch display.. Apple’s product marketing manager, Laura Metz, spoke in an interview with Inc to bring up this interesting curiosity about the Cupertino company’s market strategy.

Apple failed to change the design of its MacBook, “It didn’t feel like an Air to us”

Jason AtenInc interviewed Laura Metz To learn more about MacBook Air laptops and their history with Intel. According to Laura, Apple was planning to bring a 15-inch MacBook Air to the market during the Intel era. However it just wasn’t possible. “It didn’t look like an Air to us.” They needed the implementation of Apple Silicon processors to change their design.

“When we broke up, we wanted to make a 15-inch MacBook Air. But when you think about how the design looked before, it didn’t work out. It didn’t sound like the Air to us. Apple Silicon really did have all the right to bring this big screen with the longer battery life and performance users have come to expect from a MacBook Air. It allows us to have the components.”

Laura Metz also touched on something Apple has a lot of empathy for during the WWDC 2023 kickoff event: 15 inch laptop market is very important. Apple knew very well that many users in its ecosystem wanted a much larger screen than the 13-inch MacBook Air without needing all the features of the MacBook Pro, especially in the business area.

It is currently one of the most powerful laptops from the Cupertino company. First impressions of the 15.3-inch MacBook Air showed us: performance was equal From the fiercest competition without a huge price difference compared to previous generations of the MacBook Air. What do you think about this news?
