2022 marked the birth of Apple Watch Ultra and in 2023 we will have small updates to the entire smartwatch lineup. Just improvements to the chip that powers the smartwatch – a little faster and maybe a little more efficient – but nothing more. But this does not mean that the company does not plan to release future products with significant changes. It seems that when the device is ten years old, we will see something completely new, and it could be called Apple Watch X.

In terms of design, Apple smartwatches have changed little since the launch of the model. Series 4 in 2018 and Apple Watch Ultra. But in 2024 or 2025 – the device was introduced in 2014 and released in 2015 – the company may release Apple Watch X, with a completely redesigned design. It will be a move similar to the iPhone X, a generation in which the smartphone ditched Touch ID and adopted Face ID, forcing the screen to take up the entire front.

The design of the Apple Watch X will be much thinner even if you change the way the straps attach to the watch. According to a report published by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in your Sunday newsletter, the current system takes up too much space. According to people involved in product development, this could be used for a larger battery or other components.

Apple Watch X: magnetic straps and microLED screens

New strap attachment system Apple Watch X It will be with the help of magnets, although according to the report, it is possible that it will not be ready for the device to launch in 2024 or 2025. In addition, some new microLED screens with the same OLED brightness and contrast currently in use.

MicroLED screens, because they are not made from organic compounds, are more durable, brighter, and can stay active longer without degrading their performance. They are also capable of offering a dynamic range that is slightly better than OLED.

With higher brightness, Apple can offer smartwatches with increased visibility even in extremely strong ambient light conditions. And, being inorganic compounds, provide a longer service life.

Finally, according to the report, Apple Watch X will include blood pressure monitoring technology.. Something that has been rumored since 2022 and that the company hasn’t been able to fully address in such a small size.

This is the news at the moment on a possible Apple Watch X. We recommend that for those with a Series 6, Series 7, or Series 8, this do not update to Series 9, which will be announced with the iPhone 15, and expect announcements in 2024 or 2025.
