One of the big changes that we anticipated a few months ago was that WhatsApp was going to ditch unlimited storage on Android for Google Drive backups in one fell swoop. While this has been a more than welcome feature for all users, for a long time Google has severely limited storage, and if you want more, you’ll need to go through the box with one of the One plans.

It’s logical to assume that having unlimited storage on Android would allow WhatsApp to be used as a mixed package to store everything via backup, and although this was not its main feature, many users used it. Other they just use unlimited storage to keep their data safe. And the latter will not have to worry.

The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android has included a new feature that allows you to export WhatsApp backups to Google Drive. so you can transfer it to any other cloud storage, to your computer or just to the sd card on your mobile phone.

Exporting WhatsApp chats will be easier than ever

This is an interesting way for those who have a huge WhatsApp backup on Android, be able to export data without losing storage (especially if they don’t go to Google One) and be able to start from scratch with more measured backups, at least without losing valuable data that takes up the most, such as photos and videos.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the service will offer the option to export a full copy. It includes, of course, complete chat history such as your messages, images, videos and other media files. Logically, if WhatsApp includes the ability to export data, it will also do the same for importing them.

However, there are many unresolved issues. Will it be possible to import a backup from Android to iOS? Vice versa? In principle, with the advent of the multi-device mode, this should be a resolved issue, but the service for which is still working on it.

Be that as it may, it is always noted that a widely used service such as WhatsApp continues to provide a means to save our data. Whether inside or outside the application.
