Apple will stop selling Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the US this week. The Cupertino-based firm made the decision after it failed in a legal dispute with Masimo over infringement of its patents for incorporating pulse oximeter technology into smartwatches.
This is in response to the verdict issued last October by the US International Trade Commission (ITC), which banned the import of the aforementioned Apple Watch models into North America.
As confirmed by Apple 9to5Mac According to the statement, Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 will no longer be sold in the American version of the online store starting Thursday. 21 December, after 3:00 pm ET. For its part, devices available in the Apple Store cannot be purchased after December 24.
According to the California-based company, the decision to stop selling both Apple Watch models in the US market was made “preventatively.” Let’s keep in mind that the characteristics of an apple depend on what Joe Bidenamerican President, veto the blockade imposed by the ITC. However, the deadline set by the President for this expires on December 25.
It wouldn’t be strange if Apple tried to move its chips to Washington to make this happen sooner. But the decision to withdraw the smartwatch from the market is aimed at avoiding further legal problems if Biden’s signature does not appear within the deadline.
