There are two product lines in the Honor smartphone catalog. One of them is the Magic series, which is the company’s flagship. The other, simply called Honor, distinguishes generations by model number. This year the company took an important step by introducing Honor 200 Lite, 200 and 200 Pror, which improve the Honor 90 announced in 2023. They make very interesting changes to the design, processor or camera; These are precisely the three strengths of these devices.

However, one of the most important changes is the expansion of a new line of smartphones in the European market. Until now, Honor has brought to Spain only two models of this family: a Lite version for those who prefer an economical mobile phone with good specifications, and a standard variant with better specifications, albeit at a slightly higher price. However, this year the company also decided to launch a more powerful version worldwide: Honor 200 Pro; model this in Hypertext We were able to try this out ourselves.

The Honor 200 Pro itself doesn’t offer any major changes over the Honor 200 other than a more powerful processor, a slightly taller screen and a better main sensor, and its price difference over the base version is 150 euros. In particular, Honor 200 Pro It costs 799 euros.. But is it really an attractive option compared to mobile phones from brands like Xiaomi?

Honor retains its essence

Honor considers design one of the main advantages of the Honor 200 Pro smartphone. It is very similar in aesthetics to Honor 90 Pro, but with some changes. Its photo module remains in the same place, but now it is slightly different; more oval. The back is made of glass as the main material with a glossy and matte finish with a wavy effect and is combined with aluminum frames, also in a glossy tone.

All this is also with a slight curvature, which, in addition to improving grip, makes Honor 200 Pro thinner than it actually is – although its thickness has been fully achieved – 8.2 mm -.

The design also attracts attention with the front part and the virtually frameless screen. On the other hand, the panel AMOLED technology, resolution 2700×12248 pixels and size 6.78 inches., provides excellent sharpness and very well calibrated colors. The screen also has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, as well as a peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits.

Of course, Honor continues to support double curvature at the front, While it does provide a more premium look and feel to the device itself, it makes browsing and navigating the interface a little worse than expected, given that edges tend to be shaded and the interface isn’t always responsive.

Performance and autonomy of Honor 200 Pro

Honor 200 Pro comes with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s 3rd generation. This is a 4nm SoC designed for high-end mobile phones, which in this case is accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. This configuration is more than enough for everyday tasks like browsing social media, editing images, etc. Also for gaming.

The processor is combined with a battery 5200 mAh; The power is enough for a day without any problems. The Honor 200 Pro also has fast charging up to 100W (although a charger is not included in the box), as well as wireless charging compatibility.

These are their cameras

Honor 200 Pro

The photography section is another strong point of the Honor 200 Pro. The company chose a configuration that we have already seen in other smartphones in this line, p. Main sensor 50 megapixels resolution and aperture f/1.9; an ultra-wide-angle camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels and a third telephoto lens of 50 megapixels with 2.5x optical zoom.

These are cameras that provide very good results in most situations, especially in good daylight. The telephoto lens also does a great job of capturing more detail. There is a slight loss of image quality (though not critical) in the ultra-wide-angle camera. Luckily, the colors we get from the main sensor and telephoto lens are preserved thanks to the good processing that Honor includes in its smartphone.

An interesting detail is that the ultra-wide-angle camera can also take photos in macro mode. On the other hand, Honor 200 Pro also has Front camera 50 megapixels for selfies and video calls.

Is Honor 200 Pro a good buy?

Honor 200 Pro

Let us remind you that Honor 200 Pro will go on sale at a price of 799 euros. And the truth is that, Overall a very good device. Its photographic part is very good, as is the screen. All this is also combined with more than decent performance and more than enough autonomy even for intensive use. The design, although somewhat different from other mobile phones – and, for my taste, a little ostentatious depending on the finish – stands out for the quality of the materials; the design is very similar to what we see in smartphones costing more than 1000 euros.

However, Honor 200 Pro has its downsides. Screen curvature is still present; despite the fact that other manufacturers have already decided to abandon it. There are smartphones with better performance for this price. One of them is Nothing Phone (2), which costs 649 euros, although its design and screen are not as good as the Honor 200 Pro.

The brand’s mobile phone has another serious opponent; Xiaomi 13T Pro, which is currently available for 600 euros and has a more complete photographic section thanks to cameras signed by Leica.
