Google will officially unveil its Pixel 9 Pro Foldable in just a few weeks. He recently showed off the new device in a 30-second video on YouTube.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has long been rumored to replace the Google Pixel Fold, though little was known about the device until this week. It’s expected to be unveiled at the Made by Google event on August 13, alongside the upcoming Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.
The teaser video, titled “Introducing the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold,” begins with a Google Gemini display, suggesting that Gemini will be the main feature of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Like the Pixel 9 Pro teaser, the video shows a message on the fully open device that says “Oh, hello AI,” followed by the Pixel 9 Pro Fold name and a reminder of its upcoming release.
Earlier this week, we got a major leak of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Internal photos show that the internal selfie camera is now positioned in the top-right corner of the device, whereas it was slightly off-center on the previous model. The camera module has also been replaced with a rectangular module with two pill-shaped camera lenses. Other new information about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is that its internal display has slightly thinner bezels at the top and bottom, and the crease may be slightly smaller.
The first-generation Pixel Fold was released in June 2023. In our initial review, we noted the phone’s good build quality and spacious fold-out display. We also noted the impressive display, exceptional cameras, and fast performance. However, we were underwhelmed by the all-day battery life, poor wireless charging, and high price. The Pixel Fold hasn’t aged well, either.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will go on sale about a month after Samsung Galaxy Z Foldable 6which was announced earlier this month and will debut next week.
