Google is adding major security and privacy improvements to Android, starting with Pixel devices. The company announced a real-time protection feature through Google Play Protect called live threat detectionwhich is capable of detecting whether an application contains malware or is dangerous.
The feature is currently available on Pixel 6 and later models and is capable of checking in real time whether an app is fraudulent. The interesting thing about detecting live Android threats is that the system checks the application at any timeand not just before installing it, as is happening now. This is primarily useful for detecting more complex malware, since some applications pose no threat at the time of download and installation, but later implement malicious code to deceive or steal user data.
If the Android feature scans the app and detects a threat, will immediately send an alert to the user by notification so that he can take necessary action.
Google states in its blog that for now this feature will focus on studying stalkerwareAnd. This is “code that can collect personal or sensitive data for monitoring purposes without the user’s consent,” the company emphasizes. They will later extend this feature to other types of malware that can appear in Android apps.
Your Android will also be able to detect fraudulent calls.
We reiterate that Android’s Real-time Threat Detection feature is currently available on Google’s Pixel 6 and newer models. But the company confirmed this. It will arrive on more Android phones in the coming months.. This is also not the only privacy and security feature included in Android.
Google has also started to activate fraudulent call detectionwhich lets you know if the call is a scam. In particular, the system is able to analyze the conversation to check whether it is a scam or whether it is a robot speaking, and can send a real-time alert to the user, highlighting that it is a spam call or something similar. However, this feature is only available in beta testing for Google Pixel users.
