He Pixel 9a This is Google’s next bet in the segment of the most cost-effective mobile phones in its catalogue, and a prototype of the device has once again appeared on the scene. Via X (Twitter), user @fenibook posted two new photos of the hardware that confirm its noticeable design changes compared to the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup.
As with previous leaks, the images show the Pixel 9a with a completely flat back panel. Mobile will allow you to do without a bulky camera module which in recent generations has become something of a trademark for Mountain View natives.
The images confirm what we saw in the first leakage last August and which was later reproduced in some provides unofficial reports that came to light in September. Instead of the bump that houses the rear cameras of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, this variant opts for a module that’s almost flush with the lid.
From what is seen in the new footage, the Pixel 9a’s two rear sensors are housed internally. rounded module, barely protruding above the surface. Everything indicates that they are protected by glass, although the photographs show that the prototype still has a protective film attached.
There are no significant new features visible on the front panel as the device appears to be turned off. However, in one corner of the image you can see a silicone case, which is definitely so as not to arouse suspicion in public when using.
What do we know about Pixel 9a?
Apart from the drastic design change with the disappearance of the rear camera ‘viewfinder’, the Pixel 9a is expected to get other new features. It was initially rumored that it would retain the Pixel 8a’s 6.1-inch screen, although more recent leaks claim it will be slightly larger. In this sense it is indicated that would choose a 6.3-inch panel and will support refresh rates up to 120Hz.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 9a will use a chip under the hood Tensioner G4. However, it is worth clarifying that there are some contradictions in this aspect. While it was reported that it would be identical to the one implemented in the other Pixel 9, it was also reported that it could be a slightly modified variant that would include an older modem than the one used in Google’s flagships.
The smartphone is expected to come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. In this case, the rear camera configuration will be identical to the one that the Californians implemented in the standard Pixel 9.
The Pixel 9a will push back its release date and arrive several months earlier than usual. In theory, the mobile phone can be reserved from mid-March 2025, with deliveries starting at the end of the same month. Regarding the software, everything indicates that it will arrive with Android 15 and that will be one of the first to update to Android 16which also debuts earlier than usual.
Its initial price will remain unchanged from the Pixel 8a, at least in the US. Option with 128 GB of memory. It will be offered in exchange for $449.but it remains to be seen whether this strategy will be replicated in Europe.
