The Snapdragon 8s Elite processor was talked about briefly, and now it has been linked to a new smartphone from Xiaomi, expected in early 2025.

Qualcomm’s confusing nomenclature makes it difficult to understand the power and position of the Snapdragon 8s Elite in the lineup. According to a well-known industry observer on Chinese social network Weibo, it apparently will not match or surpass the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but will be placed between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is noted that this slot is currently occupied Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, indicating that the assumption may not be accurate.

According to a post on X, the chip has model number SM8735 and may have a different set of cores than the 8 Elite. Instead of Qualcomm Oryon chip cores, it will again use ARM cores. Perhaps the most interesting spec rumor is its ability to support 7,000mAh batteries with fast charging. Even phones with large batteries such as Asus ROG 9 Pro phone They did not have a battery larger than 6000 mAh.

Qualcomm’s possible Snapdragon 8s Elite will be paired with a phone from Xiaomi and could be the first device to launch with the chip in 2025. The same Weibo source claims that the phone will have a small quad-curved screen like the latest Vivo X200 series and a modest 1.5K resolution, along with a dual selfie camera and a Leica-tuned rear camera system. The device will most likely be a continuation of the Xiaomi Civi series, which has not previously had a global launch.

There are some estimated release dates for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite, mostly March or April 2025. This could also mean that a mystery Xioami phone could also go on sale around the same time. Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro was released in mid-March 2024, so the timing will be right.
