Oddly enough, Asus may be taking inspiration from Samsung’s name for a surprise upcoming release. A phone called ROG Phone 9 FE was spotted in performance tests, combining the famous name Asus ROG 9 phone with the suffix “FE” Samsungwhich means Fan Edition.
Asus recently released the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro, but there was no mention of a third model then. While we could expect an “Ultimate” version to arrive at some point given the company’s approach to the ROG Phone 7 series, the FE model could be a step down in specs compared to the ROG Phone 9.

Samsung uses the FE name on slightly updated older flagship phones it releases later to match its latest models like the Galaxy S24 FE, giving buyers the opportunity to get the latest high-end phone at a reasonable price. He the name FE has a sad historyas it was first used by Samsung to get rid of its old Galaxy Note 7 phones. No They exploded.
Despite this, Asus seems to have kept its name, at least in performance test results. The phone has a model number of AI2401 N, which has also been spotted as an entry in the GSM Association (GSMA) device database, indicating that the comparison test information is likely to be accurate. There were no details about the specifications, but a connection is being made between it and the ROG Phone 8, which had the model number AI2501 C.
Asus could also emulate Samsung’s FE model strategy by taking the body and specs of the ROG Phone 8 and repackaging it as the ROG Phone 9, then using the FE name to differentiate it within the lineup. A strange decision, since outside the Samsung camp the nickname FE means nothing, but inside it is associated with a problematic moment in the history of the brand.
Release details are unknown at the moment, but you can buy the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro today, and if you’re a serious mobile gamer, it’s worth your time and money.
