When we take photos with our iPhone, they usually retain some metadata besides the details of the image. Between them we have capture date and location. The latter wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for the fact that when we share images via iMessage or AirDrop, this information is transferred along with them to another device.

Of course, this can lead to the loss of our privacy if we do not want anyone to know about a particular place. Luckily, this is a feature that can be disabled on your iPhone and that’s what we’re here to show you today.

In this guide you have two options. First, your iPhone can still store the photo’s location, but no one else can see it when it’s transferred to other devices. Second, completely restrict your iPhone from saving this information. The latter, although radical, is probably the safer of the two.

Delete the location of your photos when sending them to another iPhone

This is the first stop of the guide. Here we are going to show you how to share your images but don’t include your location. However, it will still be added each time you take a photo with your iPhone, so the experience on your device should be exactly the same.

  1. open app A photo on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Select the images you want to send to another device.
  3. Click the Share button.
  4. At the top of the exchange window, you will see an option Options. The game.
  5. In chapter includeturn off the switch Location.
  6. click on Smart.
  7. Continue sharing images via iMessage or AirDrop as usual.

Remember that when you send a picture of your iPhone via WhatsApp or similar services, location data is usually not added. This usually happens between Apple services that send photos with full information, including resolution.

How to disable location completely when taking photos

  1. Open the menu Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. climb up Confidentiality.
  3. Here, go to Location.
  4. Later go to Camera.
  5. Choose an option Never.

Now when you take a picture, your iPhone will no longer save location data. Therefore, whoever you want to share it with, they will not receive this information in any way.
