Few years ago mobile phones had wide and thick physical frames or bezels, acting somehow as a protection measure, made it easy to hold these mobiles without having to accidentally touch the screen. With the passage of time and technological developments, smartphone companies have invested a lot of resources to reduce the size of these bezelswith the aim of obtaining a better experience between the user and the screen, thus achieving more aesthetic and less heavy designs.

Lately, Samsung Display announced that it is preparing a product with a “zero bezel” concepti.e. borderless, applying full screen on the front of devices. The main idea is to increase the user’s immersion in what he is observing through his mobile phone.

a shared challenge

This vision for the future of bezel-less smartphones is a goal of major manufacturers. Apple had already made this request in late July and challenged Samsung and LG Display to create a bezel-less OLED display that supports under-display cameras.

A few days ago, at the K-Display Business Forum presentation at COEX in Seoul, Samsung Display CEO Jung Yong-wook stated that they are working on developing a bezel-less smartphone and The new display will support an under-panel camera known as UPC technology.

Certainly, iPhone will be one of the first heroes to showcase this innovation. According to the reference image provided by Yong-wook, the iPhone will feature a bezel-less OLED display panel with a notch at the top and pill-shaped cutouts for the front cameras. Samsung calls these panels ‘Full Screen Anywhere’ OLED panels and they will feature 3D lamination technology and edge brightness control.

immersive experience

Samsung and Apple committed to the development of bezel-less mobiles, by increasing the size of the screens and improving the experience when watching videos or playing games. Admittedly, this can be quite an immersive activity because you will be completely immersed in what you see.

aunt ken We’re a few years away from seeing an iPhone or Galaxy with this technology. You can be sure that it will be supported with great success that will make it permanent here. Now, We could get an advance from Apple thanks to the iPhone 15 Pro Max It is estimated that it can pull out the thinnest bezels in history on a mobile phone.
