The latest Windows 11 Insider build brings a number of improvements to the Microsoft Store. Arm64 devices are now better supported, app update issues are resolved, and Store browsing is faster.

Open apps are now automatically skipped when installing app updates. Previously, the Store would try to update it while you were still in it, which could cause bugs or even data/progress loss.

Microsoft also mentions an improvement to the Store’s ‘popup experience’ in browsers. If you come across an (Android) application on the Internet, which is also available in the Microsoft Store, you will be notified by a pop-up window. It is still unclear what the popup looks like and whether this only applies to the Edge browser.

Microsoft still doesn’t seem to have given up hope of making its Store a success. Last week, a list of upcoming new features was announced, including free access for all Win32 developers (makers of ‘regular’ Windows programs).
