We are entering summer, which means we will travel thousands and thousands of miles by car/van/motorbike to go to the beach, mountains or out of town. Summer equals travel and in the case of Spain we all travel by car because of the good roads and good beaches we have.
For all of you who are going to take a car (or a motorhome), you must clearly understand that a vehicle in good condition equals fewer accidents, fewer breakdowns and less money spent on repairs.
For this reason, all mechanics recommend, home after several trips planned this summer, let’s first take the car to the workshop, for careful consideration before departure. But not everyone does it, it is enough to see the sides of the highway in the summer, clogged with broken cars.
Among all the parts to check is the pedal, which is just as important as the accelerator and brake pedal. Yes, it’s about bonding. The clutch is what makes sure we can engage gears, and without gears, there is no movement.
Autobild is commenting on a very simple trick to see if our clutch is in good shape, in case you want to save yourself a shop visit anytime soon. Like this:
You should only enter the longest link available for the model, usually the sixth. After that, and always in a safe place where we do not interrupt traffic and do not endanger other drivers, we abruptly release the clutch pedal.
The car should immediately stall. If the element is working, the car will stall automatically, otherwise this is a clear signal that the clutch disc is starting to slip and, therefore, its service life is coming to an end.
Remember to do this on level ground and away from traffic. This is a maneuver that we must also do when buying a used car.
