According to a report by Nikkei AsiaJapan is preparing to join the rush to produce and market the next generation of advanced chipsets. Therefore, Tokyo and Washington will help and support each other through a semiconductor technology partnership. In addition, this cooperation will also involve private companies from both countries, which will also help in design research and mass production.

Mainly, TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is already developing mass production technology for its advanced 2nm process, which can revolutionize the industry. Meanwhile, Japan is trying to ensure a stable and functional supply of semiconductors through its own production of next-generation chips.

At the same time, the partnership with the United States could also include the creation of a new company, and Japanese companies could also create a new manufacturing hub. From now on, the national Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry offers grants for: reduce research and development costs in advanced semiconductorsto facilitate the process for employees and companies.

The joint research will begin this year, with the establishment of a research and mass production center between 2025 and 2027. Notably, the world’s largest contract chip maker, TSMC, is also setting up a chip factory in Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture However, this factory will not produce advanced chips and will focus on chip technology ranging from 10nm to 20nm processes, which would be really incredible for the industry.

At the moment, waiting for more news in this sense, while all the companies in this area are concentrating to improve their production and make progress in making chips.
