Tesla just announced new version of model Y for Spain. It represents an important update in terms of autonomy and positions itself as the model in the series that can travel the most kilometers on a single charge. According to the company on its website and taking into account the WLTP cycle, can travel about 600 km.

The car is already available in the Tesla online store. His price 48,990 euros, about 3000 euros less is still the only version in the series with great autonomy. Tesla mentions that this new Model Y offers “maximum autonomy at a more affordable price.”

Additionally, users interested in the new Model Y should be aware that the listed price is upfront. That is, from this figure we will have to subtract the benefits of the Moves III plan, which is still valid in Spain and offers discounts of from 4500 and 7000 euros.

Model Y with more autonomy

The new Model Y has two advantages over the base rear-wheel drive model: more autonomy and greater acceleration. Tesla was using a base that had already had to add more miles and make it a little more powerful in the process. Thus, a new model called “Model and large range RWD‘ offers this simplified list of functions:

  • Autonomy 600 km (WLTP)
  • 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds
  • Maximum speed 217 km/h

Tesla hasn’t made any changes to the car’s design, interior, or the driving technologies it can use. Base the update on Larger battery for increased battery life, more or less, 30% compared to the basic version. Or what is the same thing, an extra 145 km.

Moreover: he becomes Tesla with rear-wheel drive, providing the most autonomy in the entire catalogue., establishing itself as the cost-per-kilometer benchmark in the electric SUV sector. According to the company, its average consumption is 14.9 kWh per 100 km.

This higher capacity battery does not come free for the overall weight of the vehicle, but almost. The list of functions shows that The new Model Y weighs 1959 kg. which are only 50 kg more than the standard version. This is an indicator that on a car with such characteristics can be considered insignificant in terms of response to braking or turning.

Finally, we found another detail that distinguishes the standard version from the long autonomy: maximum charging power. In the new model it reaches 250 kW., while in the most basic version it is 170 kW. For context, 250kW is the maximum power Tesla puts into its most advanced vehicles.
