When asked about Healthy monster that you can buy, there is a quick and simple answer: no. There is no such thing as a “healthy” Monster. Yeah we could talk about it less bad And the brand has a huge range of products. Perhaps the widest range of all energy drinks sold in Spain and many other countries. Not all of them have the same characteristics, and they are interesting to analyze.
Roughly speaking, there are four groups of Monster drinks: Monster Energy, Monster Energy Ultra, Monster Juiced and Monster Rehab. In addition, each of them has different flavors, as well as varieties with and without sugar.
Despite the differences in flavors and types of sweeteners contained, all Monster products have something in common: taurine and caffeine. Everyone has 0.4% taurinewhile caffeine varies very little from one variety to another. Monster Rehab contains 150 mg of caffeine in a 500 ml can, and the rest contains 160mg in the same amount of drink.
Taurine: it does not give wings
We all started hearing about taurine with the launch of Red Bullbut later many other energy drink brands added this substance to their ingredients. Of course, the Monster is one of them.
taurine This is an essential amino acid. This means our bodies can synthesize it so we don’t need to get it from food. However, there is nothing wrong with consuming it on time. It is known for many beneficial effects, both due to its strength and its properties. antioxidant, which helps fight free radicals that cause cancer and aging, and its role in maintaining good nervous and immune system. It also gives us a good supply of energy. But there’s a problem.
We can experience all these benefits of taurine by consuming it alone. However, when mixed with other stimulantslike caffeine, the effects can be harmful if they get out of control.
What about caffeine?
We’ve seen that a can of Monster contains between 150 and 160 mg of caffeine. Typically 160. According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), an adult can safely consume up to 400 mg caffeine per day. The Monster’s dose will be much lower. However, the problem, as we have already seen, is the combination of two stimulants, such as caffeine and taurine. Additionally, some Monster strains, such as Monster Ultra Rosa or Monster Rehab, contain guarana. This plant also has a stimulating effect. It is found in very low doses, but when combined with caffeine and taurine, its effects can be very harmful.

What are the risks of Monster?
Occasional consumption of Monster, like other energy drinks, is usually not harmful. However, there are studies that show that consuming this type of product encourages people to start other bad habitsfor example, eating more sweets or even engaging in risky behavior. One such risky behavior could be something as simple as drinking one can and then opening another.
We must not forget that Monster is one of the energy drinks that comes in larger cans. Contains half a liter and many people drink it in one sitting.
Combined and excessive use of caffeine, taurine and other stimulants can lead to the development of cardiovascular disorders. There have even been some reported cases of stroke. For this reason, its use by children, adolescents and pregnant women is strongly discouraged.
Be careful what you sweeten
Some Monster varieties contain sugar, usually about 55 grams per jar. WHO advises against taking more 25 grams sugar per day in healthy people. Therefore, the dose is more than doubled. This makes us think that the healthiest Monster is the one that contains sweeteners. However, the most common are acesulfame K and aspartame. Both are safe sweeteners in permitted doses. However, if they are abused, they can cause coronary heart disease in the first case and stroke in the second. Being mixed with stimulants, which also increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, it is not much safer than taking Monstera with sugar.
So what is the healthiest monster?
We have already seen that there is no healthier Monster. If we stick to the amount of caffeine, perhaps we could consider the healthiest monster to be Monster Rehab. However, it also contains other stimulants such as tea, guarana and ginseng.
This is usually recommended as the least bad option. Monster Energy Zero because I don’t have those 55 grams of sugar. We’ve already seen that it contains sweeteners, which are unhealthy when added to the equation. But if we have to choose, this might be the best choice.

In any case, the best option is not to drink these energy drinks. If coffee doesn’t wake you up, maybe you should give it a try. sleep more hours. It is not only safe, but also has endless health benefits.
