WhatsApp will show users’ photos in group chats

WhatsApp has just released a new update as part of the TestFlight beta program, bringing the version up to 22.18.0.72. And what’s new in this update? Something really interesting, and they’ve been asking for years.

WhatsApp is working on including member profile photos in group chats for a future app update. That is, they are working on it, and not that it will be published immediately. As is the case with Communities.

With the recent beta update of WhatsApp for iOS 22.18.0.72, Wabetainfo has discovered that the company plans to make some improvements to the group chat interface in a future update to the app.

As you can see from this screenshot, WhatsApp is planning to introduce something that has been requested for a long time: see profile pictures of group members when someone writes or sends audio.

As with Reaction Preview, there is no way to disable this feature., as it will always be enabled by default for all group members and there is no toggle for it. It will be necessary to see if administrators can later remove this option or not.
