It seems that google wants to produce some of its smartphones Pixel in Indiathe development comes from the publication The Information citing a company source, currently the research giant produces Pixel smartphones entirely in China.
The report states that Google has asked Indian manufacturers to bid for the assembly of 500,000 to 1 million units of Pixel smartphones and has represented this since 10 to 20 percent of Pixel .’s estimated total annual production. Google CEO Sundar Pichai hinted at a plan to produce Pixel smartphones in India earlier this year, but no final decision has been made, according to the report.
If the company gets approval to manufacture Pixel devices in India, China will still have to play a role in the export of some components. Another report also suggests that Alphabet Inc is considering Vietnam as an alternative destination for manufacturing.
Google’s move to manufacture Pixel phones outside of China is due to: blockages caused by COVID-19 cause disruptions in global supply networks. In addition, there is also an ongoing trade war between Washington and Beijing, with the former even banning the export of premium chips to China.
