Apple users have a new annoying bug which would affect some iPhone 14iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, in short, all new phones presented in September.
The phone would repeatedly display a SIM related error message. “Over there SIM is not readable, insert a valid SIM card”, the pop-up reads. The appearance of the message would also cause the iPhone to freeze in some cases, causing it to stop working properly.
Apple has already said it is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. To be clear, it looks like it’s a iOS 16 Error. A false positive: The SIM card reader would work just fine. That’s good news: it means the bug can be easily fixed with a patch. Otherwise, Apple would have been forced to recall — and replace — millions of smartphones around the world.
In anticipation of new updates, Apple itself advises users not to reset the phone in the hopes of fixing the bug. It seems that this solution does not work. Instead, users can go to an Apple Store in the meantime to get the necessary technical assistance.
It’s not the first sensational glitch to disrupt the launch of the new Apple phones. In the first few days after Day 1, an annoying problem occurred with the iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max’s main camera: it vibrated loudly when used in third-party apps. The glitch was (immediately) fixed by Apple, which bodes well. This new bug will probably be fixed just as soon.
