The turbulent process surrounding Arm China’s former CEO, Allen Wu, now seems to be finally coming to an end. Arm’s executives now claim that Wu has been successfully and legally dismissed. This took some time: In 2020, the CEO was already posted, but he refused to step down from his post.
Arm’s China branch has appointed two new co-CEOs, according to an announcement Friday. Liu Renchen and Eric Chen would now head the company. According to the Reuters news agency, this could happen with a unanimous vote in the board.
However, this was also a bit of a mess. Shortly after the announcement, Arm’s China branch posted a letter to its official WeChat account stating that Allen Wu would still be the right CEO. The piece said that the administrative actions that removed Wu from his duties were not valid. More than 430 Arm China employees reportedly signed this letter.
Arm’s Board denies these allegations, stating that Liu Renchen is registered with the Chinese authorities as the legal representative of Arm China. In addition, all administrative procedures would have been followed correctly.
As for Wu, he is still the CEO of Arm China.
Wu, who was already asked to leave in 2020 due to a ‘conflict of interest’, seems to have finally stepped aside although he still disagrees.
