Apple-made 5G chips could be ready early next year
Apple plans to implement its own 5G and Wi-Fi connectivity chips.
Christian AmonQualcomm CEO wanted to talk about the production of Apple’s 5G modems on the occasion of the MWC 2023 conference. Apple’s 5G connectivity chip could launch in the same year, 2024. He also took the opportunity to wink at the company.
They plan to create their own 5G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips from Apple for two main reasons: to reduce the manufacturing costs of their electronic devices and to design a chip dedicated exclusively to their software. Before arriving soon at production facilities, Qualcomm CEO said: “If you need our chips, you know where to find us”.

The evolution of Apple’s 5G chips and its fight with Qualcomm
Until now, Qualcomm had always been the company chosen to provide 5G connectivity chips to the iPhone. Behind Legal dispute between Apple and Qualcomm Due to the lack of understanding in economic deals, the firm with the bitten apple logo decided to design its own processors and outsource the development of other hardware components to other manufacturers.
While the iPhone 15 remains dependent on Qualcomm for now, Apple’s idea is to design its own 5G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity chips and gradually implement them into its devices. the company would start includes a proprietary 5G chip in one of the new iPhone models and each year it would expand its use to other products in its catalog. According to MacRumors’ signs, Apple would complete the deactivation phase of Qualcomm in about 3 years.
We don’t know how different the performance of Apple-made 5G chips will be compared to Qualcomm’s solution. But no doubt this change will offer a much cheaper alternative to the bitten apple logo signature. While Apple manufactures their own modems, they will implement their own modems from Qualcomm.
