Rockstar Games has sold 375 million units of Grand Theft Auto games worldwide, nearly half of which is GTA V, according to TweakTown’s quarterly figures. About 44 percent of all GTA games sold so far are GTA V, and that shows how the already hugely popular franchise was affected by the latest major installment. For comparison: According to game journalist Jason Schreier Total sales of GTA V are higher than Assassin’s Creed or Resident Evil series combined!
As can be seen from the chart below, Grand Theft Auto V has consistently been a blockbuster with at least a few million units sold in nearly every quarter since its release in 2013. The latest version of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 version of the game ensures that GTA V unit purchases are not stagnant yet, either.
Also regarding GTA Online, Rockstar Games can consider themselves lucky. This be alone The online version of GTA V is said to have achieved 8 percent more turnover in the last quarter. According to TweakTown, this will be one of the biggest boosts for the game to date. In short, despite the mass demand for a sequel, it looks like Rockstar could make do with a Grand Theft Auto that surpasses three generations of consoles.
