This infrastructure will be located between Puerto Giraldo (Ponedera) on the Atlantic coast and the municipality of Salamina in Magdalena. Regional interconnection is considered an important element in the road system.

Minister of Atlantic Infrastructure Azael Charris presented the details of the project, whose purpose is to show it to the government of President Gustavo Petro through the Ministry of Transport for consideration among the priority investments of National Development. The official highlighted four alternatives presented in previous studies, taking into account the dynamics of the channel as well as the stability of the land along the river.

Regarding the impact of the project, Magdalena livestock businessman José Gamarra was heard saying that this was the most important work on road issues for his department due to the impact it would have on neighboring municipalities.

“The construction of this important bridge will mark the development of not only existing roads, but also of this deeply forgotten part of Colombia.
