The mysterious death of DJ Valentina Trespalacios, found dead in the town of Fontibón on January 22, continues to provide clues about the circumstances of this fatal event.

In the past few hours, after the woman’s body was found in a dumpster, authorities linked the young woman’s boyfriend, identified as John Poulos, as the main suspect, and his testimony would play a key role in furthering the investigation.

As EL TIEMPO Investigation Unit can confirm, Poulos, originally from Texas, United States, went to Central America for a stopover in another country, without any contact with the victim’s family.

According to Forensic Medicine, the young woman’s cause of death was hanging, due to the presence of a pressure groove in the hyoid region located in the anterior part of the neck, under the tongue and above the thyroid cartilage.

Here are some of the best tips on Trespalacios’ circumstances of death: A silver Volkswagen Voyage 2021 car with license plate JNL991 and video footage from security cameras showing Trespalacios and Poulos.

Authorities are investigating whether the car the couple was in when the photos were taken is the same as the car seen in the video footage of the site where the young woman lived with her mother. Apparently, Paulos took the DJ from there.

Meanwhile, one of the last people who might have seen the DJ live spoke to “Noticias Caracol” about the day he transferred him to his partner.

This is a drive from the InDriver platform to pick them up from north of Bogotá to take them to a nightclub early in the morning. The man, who did not give his name for security reasons, said they both had an argument as they got into the vehicle. However, that didn’t stop Trespalacios from profiling her boyfriend.

“He was a tall, American, white, brown-haired, light-eyed, stocky, half-shaven man. He was taken away just like him,” said the driver.

He added that before his partner got in the car, the DJ showed him a warning via the app that he was at risk.

“When he gets in the car, the man yells before he gets in and says ‘Oh, why did I write this’… He says to me, ‘look, I wrote InDriver for support: help, I’m in danger’”” .

The driver says he asked her if she was okay after showing the message. Noticias told Caracol, “Then she starts slapping her hands, the guy comes in and says ‘what’s wrong baby? Are you okay?’ says,” he said.

The driver also claimed to have seen them arguing in the car on their way to their destination.but when the American asked him if he knew how to speak English, he got a positive answer and stopped speaking.

“She was wearing a short t-shirt and her hair was done. I’m taking them to the disco, they were talking. The man asked me if I knew English, I said yes; then she kept quiet and started texting him on WhatsApp,” she concluded for “Noticias Caracol.”

So far, authorities are trying to determine the route Poulos took as he left the country and how Trespalacios was found dead in a suitcase.
