During the Emmy Awards 2022, the director Shawn Levy spoke about two of his most important projects, namely Deadpool 3 And Weird stuff, revealing his interest in creating a crossover between the two in Deadpool’s third chapter. Though he later hinted that it was more of a joke than genuine interest.
Below we have quotes from Shawn Levy:
Ryan Reynolds and I are trying to figure out how to do this kind of crossover between Deadpool and Stranger Things.
While these are two properties that belong to two different franchises, in Deadpool’s narrative universe it’s a little bit possible, and we’ve already seen a small intersection with Green Lantern, for example. But the director himself later clarified:
Don’t worry, there won’t be a crossover between Stranger Things and Deadpool. Sorry for my stupid jokes that can generate misleading headlines.
Meanwhile, on Deadpool 3, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have stated, especially in regards to Disney management:
They are very supportive. If we make a certain joke, we may at some point be told ‘maybe it’s not right’. But I’m still a big believer in what we’re doing, also because we’ve done this before and separately. And they saw the success we reaped, while reaping even greater success. So it could be a marriage in heaven. But we still have their support, which is great. Deadpool becomes Deadpool.
