Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), The iconic event in the world of video games, organized by the Software and Entertainment Association (ESA), has come to an end after more than twenty years of experience.

The current year had witnessed the cancellation of its edition, which was originally scheduled to be held between June 13-16, due to the confirmed absence of major companies in the industry, including giants such as Microsoft, Nintendo and Ubisoft.

The ESA said in a recent statement that E3 failed to sustain sustainable interest that would reflect the “size, power and influence” of the video game industry.

The first edition of E3 took place in May 1995, and each decade since has seen growth in size and relevance. Despite this, ESA announced that it was time to say goodbye, without detailing the specific reasons behind this final decision beyond what was published on its website.

The last in-person E3 was held in 2019, and the covid-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2020 edition. followed by an online format in 2021. In 2022, the event did not take place virtually or in person at its usual venue, the Los Angeles Convention Center in the US.
