Private label (PL) goods increase average shopper checks and the number of positions on them, the study showed. Over the past year, the popularity of private labels has grown with 52% of shoppers buying private labels with varying frequency.

Private label products increase average customer checks: study

Average checks in retail stores grow with the presence of own brands in the product assortment. This is stated in the results of a study conducted by Roskachestvo and the Romir research holding.

According to the study, between 2021 and 2022, the average check containing private label products increased by 28.4%. The average non-private label check amount was largely unchanged, the study says. At the same time, the duration of the control in terms of the number of merchandise with the presence of own brands increased by 131%.

52% of shoppers buy private label products with variable frequency. 68% of Russians express their willingness to buy such goods. One of the main reasons for switching to private label products was their availability (81%), with seven out of ten respondents considering them to be the best in terms of price and quality.
