Our sleep consists of different stages. In other words, hormones are secreted in the body during deep sleep. In addition, each stage of sleep is characterized by different types of electrical activity in the brain.
The depth or continuity (continuity) of sleep stages can be affected by a variety of factors. Including aging and insomnia. Experts also decided to find out the role nutrition plays in sleep quality.
The study included 15 people. These are 15 men of normal weight. Randomly given healthy food or junk food. The unhealthy diet was high in sugar, saturated fat, and processed foods. Each diet was followed for one week.
As a result, it turned out that the participants slept the same amount of time on both diets. However, an unhealthy diet led to more superficial deep sleep. Similar sleep changes occur in insomnia with aging.
