Tinkoff Bank, Ozon and Sberbank builds will test a Russian open source software repository. The experiment with the GitHub analogue will run until April 2024, following the Ministry of Digital Development’s order issued on May 31.
There are 82 test takers in total on the list approved by the department. Among them are both federal and regional authorities, as well as large companies – Tinkoff Bank, Ozon, Moscow Exchange, Sbertech – as well as development companies and individuals. At the same time, IT giants – VK and Yandex – did not apply to participate in the experiment.
The Ministry of Digital Development noted that the list includes both developers and users of open-source solutions that provide the agency with analytical data on participation in the experiment. The ministry stressed that participation in the experiment for companies is not limited.
At the same time, no way was designed to motivate developers or program owners to share code, says Vedomosti, citing a source at one of the IT companies.
It was announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin that in September 2021 the “Russian Github” will be created. The Russian Information Technology Development Foundation announced that it will join the project in October 2022. The repository creation experiment started on March 21, 2023.
