Russia may resume unscheduled inspections of IT companies. This is planned by the Ministry of Digital Development and the Federal Antimonopoly Service: the measure will not affect all companies, but only those that have leaked data or violated antitrust laws. The moratorium on inspections has been in force since March 2022.
Unscheduled inspections of IT companies may resume. Kommersant writes about this, citing a source close to the government.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Ministry of Digital Development plan to carry out checks on companies that have leaked, that is, whose published database belongs to them “directly or indirectly”.
Likewise, the resumption of inspections will affect companies that have violated antitrust laws regarding the overpricing of products “in the absence of an alternative.”
A moratorium on inspections of IT companies operating in Russia was introduced in March 2022. According to the resolution, the inspections are suspended until 2025, but the modifications introduced in February of this year allowed unscheduled inspections of companies “for the processing of personal data.”
