The HPE-built supercomputer consists of 166 racks, each containing 64 server blades. Each of these servers is equipped with two Xeon Max processors with integrated memory and six Intel Data Center Max GPUs, all cooled by a custom liquid cooling system.
The Aurora supercomputer has 21,248 processors, 1.1 million cores, around 20 petabytes of memory, and over 63,000 GPUs. After acceptance testing, Aurora will be the first supercomputer to achieve a theoretical peak performance of over 2 ExaFLOPS.
Another Frontier supercomputer “giving” about 1 ExaFLOPS and using AMD solutions.
This system is expected to contribute to revolutionary research in nuclear fusion, scientific engineering, weather forecasting and other fields.
