Effective July 1, all aircraft in U.S. airspace are safe to land in poor security without upgraded airborne radar altimeters, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Such a significant achievement is the result of an increase in the capacity of 5G networks by US operators, which can potentially interfere with aircraft. In many cases, they use special additional equipment.
The latest 5G system was predicted by many debates during the month by the Federal Commission (FCC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) due to concerns about the negative impact of 5G signals on the performance of airborne altimeters. As a result, a compromise was reached between them on the timing of improving the quality of aircraft – July 1 of this year.
Today, about 80% of US civil aviation ships have been modernized. It should be fully completed by February 2024. of the year.
