Specialists of the Federal Center for Scientific Selection and Technological Horticulture and Nursery (FSC Horticulture) have developed two new raspberry varieties – Ivan Kupala and Salyut – distinguished by sweetness, aroma and disease resistance.
It took more than 12 years for breeders to create them. The names of the varieties did not appear by chance, according to the project manager Sergey Evdokimenko. In the first case, the berries ripen on the bushes for the Slavic holiday, while in another variety, berry branches are located in all directions, “as if lighting the night sky with fireworks.”
The new varieties are resistant to anthracnose and septoria – they do not need to be treated with chemicals to fight microscopic fungi. Therefore, the fruits will be environmentally friendly and safe for consumption.
As the Federal Horticultural Scientific Center emphasizes, it is possible to grow crops on an industrial scale and on personal sub-farms.
Both innovations passed the variety tests and entered the State Register.
