The Association of Russian Banks has called on the government to introduce preferential SMS rates for banks that have been sanctioned. After removing credit union apps from the App Store and Google Play, push notifications were no longer available for some customers. These clients have to send messages.

Banks are asked to introduce preferential SMS rates for them

The cost of one SMS varies from 0.7 rubles to 1.5 rubles. At the same time, since 2022, various mobile operators have already raised the cost of SMS four times. As a result, the costs of sending messages amount to tens of billions of rubles, according to bankers, Kommersant reports.

Bankers have already made similar requests to the authorities. Last spring, they asked to consider the possibility of reducing the cost of messages to the level of 0.5-1 rubles. The request was justified by the pressure of sanctions and an increase in spending of billions of rubles.

According to experts, for small banks, the cost of SMS may be higher. According to Darya Verestnikova, commercial director of Safetech, such SMS costs banks, depending on the operator and the size of the bank, from 0.7 rubles to 4 rubles per message, while even a not very large credit organization has hundreds of thousands of them daily. .
