The study used the Torrens Creative Thinking Test (TTCT), a well-known tool used to assess an individual’s creativity. The researchers presented the responses generated by ChatGPT, a GPT-4-based artificial intelligence application, as well as the responses of students from a control group at the University of South Africa.
The results showed that ChatGPT performed exceptionally well for originality, placing it first for creativity.
One of the study’s authors believes that AI can develop its own creative abilities on a par with humans and even surpass them. Regardless, many creative people, on the contrary, believe that AI devalues their work, so they protest its use in every possible way.
