The main rival, at least on paper, of Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites is Amazon Kuiper Projectand the trading giant is building a huge building for workshops and launch pads.

This building is located in Florida and will have an estimated cost of $120 million.

The building will be located at the Space Florida Launch and Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center, where NASA once landed its space shuttles. In addition to the large footprint, the facility will also have a 100-foot-high bay, giving Amazon enough room to integrate its satellites with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and United Launch Alliance (ULA) rockets.

Steve Metayer, Amazon’s vice president of manufacturing operations for Kuiper, says: CNBC that it expects to complete construction of the building by the end of next year, with satellite data processing to begin in early 2025.

“We have an ambitious plan to launch full-scale production of the Kuiper project and the first customer pilot projects next year, and this new facility will be critical in helping us meet that schedule,” says Metayer.
