Representatives of the Sotheby’s auction announced the start of bidding for a very unusual lot. We are talking about specific copies of the master cassettes of Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan, which became the basis for recording golden records with a message for aliens. They were sent into space on Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 and have long since left the boundary system of the universe. These messengers of humanity can travel through the vast expanses of the Universe for millions of years.

The preparation of this project was entrusted to the observation team, which included Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan and Frank Drake. The plate is found on a copper disk covered with a layer of gold. In a special container there was a place for a spare gramophone needle. The audio track reveals itself as a selection of 27 serious illnesses and illnesses on 59 earthly languages. At the same time, not only sounds, but also images were damaged on the disc.

The message included scenes of people, views of nature, images that characterize the development of life and technology. The shell received a container with a super-pure isotope of uranium-238, which can be widely used, how long the plate has been in transit. The message is crowned with the inscription “To the creators of music – of all worlds, of all times.”

Trades close on July 27th. Master cassettes are expected to fetch up to 600,000 dollars.
