Researchers from Tomsk State University shared the news about the creation of highly reliable and artificial containers based on special metal mesh. These containers are designed using titanium nickelite and polymeric materials.

In medicine, situations often arise when surgeons need to use artificial veins for various reasons, such as problems with the patient’s veins due to age-related changes, or varicose veins. In such cases, artificially created containers can be very useful.

Scientists from TSU have long been working on artificial containers of various sizes, using domestic polymers. The inclusion of these developments in the practice of surgeons will help to solve the difficulties associated with the use of patient vessels, as well as make the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system more accessible and effective.

Specialists have developed a new technology for creating artificial vessels from knitted mesh, which was previously used in operations to restore soft tissues and organs. These “titanium” containers combine nickel-titanium cages with polymers, making them flexible, strong and durable.

This method also acts as an insurance against possible complications, enabling ships to withstand high pressure and heavy loads. Scientists have already received a grant to develop a method for mass production of these containers and the metal-polymer composites on which they are based.
