Fraudsters have started using Telegram bots to talk to fake numbers.
Bots allow you to replace the numbers of various government agencies and services. In one of these schemes, the phone number was observed as a landline and was monitored by the FSB of Russia in the Arkhangelsk region.
The scheme looked like this: at first, the scammers reacted to a fake Telegram account of Sergei Samodov, director of the Arkhangelsk Drama Theater named after. Lomonosov. Then, on his behalf, messages were sent to colleagues who met in the near future about an imminent call from the “curator of the Federal Security Service of the Ministry of Culture.” After that, one of the theater employees joined Telegram. The caller said that the theater workers suspect “in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
To register with Telegram, scammers use virtual mobile numbers, and then connect bots that allow you to create spoof numbers with your own combination of numbers.
