Aeroflot will compensate flight delays with bonus miles, Sergey Aleksandrovsky, chief executive of the airline, told Vedomosti. The innovation will come into force in October and will be available to members of the Aeroflot Bonus program.
Starting in October, in addition to the monetary compensation required by law, the airline will accumulate additional miles. The measure will be extended to all Aeroflot flights, as well as Rossiya flights with the code SU.
Thus, for a delay of 2 to 4 hours, passengers will receive 2,000 bonus miles in compensation, if the flight is delayed by 4 to 8 hours, program participants will receive a credit of 3,000 miles. With a delay of more than 8 hours – 4 thousand miles. Bonuses will be received immediately, the company will not require additional confirmation of the delay.
“If a passenger is not a member of the Aeroflot Bonus program, he can simply register and receive an accrual automatically,” Aleksandrov specified.
The conditions for obtaining elite levels of the bonus program have also been adjusted: for the silver level you will need to earn 20 thousand status miles instead of 25 thousand, and for the gold level – 40 thousand, and not 50 thousand, as it was. before. To reach the platinum level, you need to accumulate 100 thousand instead of 125 thousand.
