In January-June 2023, scammers stole more than 1.3 billion rubles from citizens through the Fast Payment System (FPS). This is 16.25% of the total amount of all funds stolen during this time.
The number of robberies through this service amounted to 32.2 thousand. The Bank of Russia highlights this channel of theft in statistics only since the beginning of this year, Vedomosti reported.
At the same time, the Russians managed to return their money most of all in January-March – 64 million rubles, or 11% of the stolen amount. In April-June, this figure fell almost five times, amounting to 13 million rubles (1.7%).
In total, during this period, fraudsters stole more than 8 billion rubles from citizens, 33% more than in the same period last year, according to the regulator’s report. It was possible to return only 4.39% of the total amount – about 356.6 million rubles.
- In the period from April to June 2023, the Russians made 300 million purchases through the SBP for a total of 600 million rubles. The Central Bank pointed out that during the past year these figures have multiplied by five.
- The volume of transfers through the FPS in the second quarter reached 7 trillion rubles, doubling year on year. In total, 1.6 billion transactions were made and the daily number of transfers exceeded 23 million transactions.
