New GoPro Hero 12 Black officially launched this Wednesday (6). New features include the addition of: Support for audio recording via Bluetooth, which can even use wireless headphones.

One of the improvements made on the new model is the power management system, which GoPro guarantees is twice as efficient as the previous model. It is worth considering, for example, that the Enduro battery, which promises better performance at low temperatures, follows suit.

According to GoPro, the device can shoot in full resolution at 5.3K at 60fps for 70 minutes — at the same resolution but at 30fps, the camera promises about 95 minutes of recording. Capable of recording 58 minutes at 120fps in 4K, Up to 155 minutes at 30fps in Full HD mode (1080p).

The sensor of the new camera (1/1.9 inch) is 8:7 as in the Hero 11 Black. What’s new is that it’s used in all mods available on the Hero 12 Black; the feature should facilitate content production for different formats (eg 16:9, 9:16 or 4:3). It is capable of taking 27 MP photos or extracting 24.7 MP photos from videos.

Lens modes include linear (19-39mm), wide (16-34mm), and SuperView (16mm). One of the points that GoPro emphasized during the launch is that the camera can record in portrait format, in 4K resolution, adapted to social networks such as Instagram or TikTok, even in landscape.

Available features include the ability to shoot up to 10-bit and has a new HDR mode that makes images more vivid and improves shadows and dynamic range.

For editing professionals, There is a new mode called GP-Log. It allows advanced users to make better color corrections as they can use a mode that captures more data.. Timecode synchronization is also available for those who tend to shoot with multiple GoPros; this can make it easier to edit these images in other software.

Available recording modes and resolutions are:

  • 1080p: 24, 30, 60, 120 and 240 fps;

  • 2.7K: 240fps;

  • 4K: 24, 30, 60 and 120 fps;

  • 5.3K: 24, 30 and 60 fps.

Another highlight of the camera is the HyperSmooth 6.0 mode, which, combined with the technology called AutoBoost, provides a wider viewing angle without sacrificing stabilization. According to the company, the technology analyzes four times more data than the previous version. Another function allows you to block the horizon in 360°. This means that the camera can rotate while attached to an object, but the horizon must remain fixed.

You can connect up to four different devices while still on wifi, allowing you to control the device using voice commands. It is also possible to use two microphones of the camera at the same time.

GoPro also brings easier and clearer controls to the Hero 12 Black’s display, helping you quickly identify and select different modes and effects. On the other hand, the company gives the new camera full control over the features and modes available to advanced users.

Along with the launch of the new camera, GoPro also introduced Max Lens Mod 2.0. The accessory expands the field of view by up to 177 degrees, allowing you to shoot 4K videos at 60fps with a wider field of view. This module promises to be twice as scratch resistant as well as being smaller in size than the previous one.

From an aesthetic point of view, its design remained the same as the previous generation. There is a home screen (2.27″), a button to start or pause shooting, a power and mode selection button, as well as an external small screen (1.4″) next to the sensor. But in this generation it has a blue pigmentation and a 1/4-20 connector that can be attached to different accessories.
